Frequently Asked Questions

Everything About Telehealth Care.

Is telehealth mental health care as effective as in-person? +
Yes. Multiple large-scale clinical studies have demonstrated that telehealth psychiatric and therapy services produce outcomes equivalent to in-person care for most mental health conditions — including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. The therapeutic relationship, clinical assessment accuracy, and treatment outcomes are comparable. For certain presentations requiring physical examination, we may recommend an in-person visit.
What states can you provide telehealth services in? +
We are currently licensed to provide telehealth mental health services to patients physically located in the state of Florida. You do not need to live near North Miami — you simply need to be in Florida at the time of your appointment. If you are located in another state, please call us and we will let you know if we can accommodate you or provide a referral.
What platform do you use for telehealth sessions? +
We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform designed specifically for healthcare. You will receive a unique link before your appointment — no account creation or app download is required. Simply click the link at your appointment time from any modern browser on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Can I get prescriptions through telehealth? +
Yes. Our psychiatrists can prescribe and manage most psychiatric medications via telehealth, including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anti-anxiety medications, and ADHD medications. Prescriptions are sent electronically to any pharmacy in Florida. Note that Florida and federal law restrict the prescribing of some controlled substances via telehealth — your psychiatrist will advise you if an in-person visit is required for a specific medication.
Is telehealth covered by my insurance? +
In most cases, yes. Following federal and Florida state legislation, most insurance plans — including Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial plans — are required to cover telehealth mental health services at the same rate as in-person visits. We verify your specific telehealth benefits before your appointment. Self-pay rates are also available.
What if I have technical difficulties during my appointment? +
Our team is here to help. If you experience technical difficulties, try refreshing your browser, switching to a different device, or joining via phone audio only. You can also call our office directly at (305) 204-1209 and we will troubleshoot with you or reschedule at no charge if the issue cannot be resolved quickly.
Can children and adolescents receive telehealth services? +
Yes. We provide telehealth psychiatric and therapy services to children and adolescents with parental consent. For minors, a parent or guardian must be available at the start of the session for consent verification, after which the minor may have a private session with the clinician if clinically appropriate.
How do I prepare for my first telehealth appointment? +
Find a quiet, private location. Test your camera and microphone beforehand. Have a list of your current medications, any prior diagnoses, and questions for your provider ready. Complete any intake forms sent to you before the appointment. Log in 5 minutes early to resolve any technical issues. Have your insurance card nearby in case it is needed.
